The idea of building a high-speed train to Northern California is very fascinating. To be used for very well functioning public transportation system in Europe and in Finland it’s almoust impossible to understand how people have been survived without working public transportation.

The cost of the project ($ 40-50 billion) seem to be very high though. But in a long run I think it would be the only way to solve transportation issues the most efficient way.

I hope some of these great ideas come to fruition in the not-too-distant future. Taminnen seems to have both a handle on what might work and a vested interest in seeing nascent bio-based and non-polluting energy methods be successful. The HSR project cost is $50 billion to build out the entire system, NOT the initial LA-SF segment. Part of that $50 billion is supposed to come from private investment. Moreover, that rail infrastructure can be leveraged to provide local/regional/commuter runs (i.e. improve the local mass transit).

If this guy was advising the Governor, that would explain a lot…

An investor in the cleantech space advocating government intervention to force more cleantech development. No conflict of interest there. And picking on poor Al Gore. The charlatan is spending all of his money raising awareness again instead of promoting Terry’s cleantech portfolio of companies to solve the “problem” and make him a “fortune” in the process.
